The Client

Aston HallAston Hall Hotel was built in 1772; it is located just outside of Sheffield and is surrounded by 55 acres of garden and meadowland. The hotel has 52 rooms and is a popular venue for weddings and conferences alike. The hotel is part of a portfolio of luxury hotels alongside Hellaby Hall and West Retford Hotel.

The Motivation

The directors were sceptical about working with an energy broker for the tendering and securing of contracts. This came from a negative experience with a previous consultant. After meeting with our Business Development Manager the client agreed to sign our Letter of Acceptance, Effective Utilities was then able to go to market to help secure a great deal for the client’s upcoming energy renewal.

The Plan

AftAston Haller obtaining better prices than the client direct from suppliers we agreed to tender the hotels gas supply contracts. At the same time, the client asked Effective Utilities to tender for contracts at its sister company West Retford Hotel, part of the Best Weston group. Once energy contracts were successfully secured for both hotels we were also able to assist the client in their plans for acquisition of a new hotel, Hellaby Hall. This required a change of ownership in energy contracts and the setup of short-term contracts for business continuity before a long-term utility contract was tendered.

The Outcome

Having worked with the client for over 15 months we have been able to secure significant savings and we now manage £278,996 of energy contracts on behalf of the hotel group. We have become the ‘go-to’ provider for the customer when it comes to utility purchasing and we will continue to support their business strategy across existing and new hotel sites.
